A warm welcome to the refurbished website of German nature photographers Anja Schmelter and Jochen Gerlach. Here you will find a selection of our best nature and wildlife shots, taken mainly during the last couple of years in various countries around the world. All of our images show wild, free-ranging animals in their natural habitats. None of the animals is captive, no shots are taken under controlled conditions.

Wildlife is in severe danger: Climate change, loss of natural habitats, species extinction, whaling and trophy hunting - to mention only a few but apparent aspects. Focus-on-Wildlife, the name of our website, was not chosen by chance. It is not only about taking pictures and filling up the archives. As wildlife photographers and nature lovers we somehow feel the duty to support the efforts of nature conservation. The problems are enormous and numerous, but so are the possibilities to get involved in conservation projects and to make your voice heard. We would like to encourage everyone, our visitors as well as fellow wildlife photographers, to take action against the destruction of our nature.

It would be a joy and a big honour, to know that our images have helped in a way to make you see the beauty and the diversity of Mother Nature.
